This week was unambiguously the latter. Beneath the arched colonial ceiling of The Clifford Pier at The Fullerton Bay Hotel — a space whose bones were built for ceremony long before anyone dreamed of trunk shows — Bulgari gathered the region’s most discerning guests for an opening gala that felt, from first arrival to final flourish, less like a brand event and more like a confirmation of something the house has always known: that Singapore understands beauty on Bulgari’s terms.
The occasion was the Singapore leg of Bulgari’s 2026 High Jewellery and Timepiece Trunk Show, presenting pieces from Eclettica — the Roman maison’s most ambitious high jewellery collection to date. And ambitious may actually be underselling it.
The Setting: History as a Stage
The Clifford Pier was not chosen by accident. Few venues in Singapore carry the same weight of layered meaning — a former gateway to the island, now a chandelier-lit dining room whose proportions still suggest arrival, departure, and the kind of expectation that precedes something significant. Bulgari, a house that was born into Rome’s own architectural grandeur, has always understood how to use space as a storytelling device. Clifford Pier’s vaulted arcades and warm light became, for one evening, an extension of the maison’s own aesthetic language.
Dinner was served. And Singapore’s Singaporean tenor Jonathan Charles Tay performed alongside a string quartet, the music rising into the vaulted ceilings and wrapping itself around guests the way only live strings truly can. It was a reminder that luxury, done properly, engages every sense — not merely the visual.
The Stars, The Jewels, The Moment
The guest list read like a well-curated who’s-who of regional culture. Thai actress Orm Kornnaphat, dressed in pieces from Bulgari’s Color Treasures collection, drew considerable attention — as did her Serpenti Spiga watch, gem-set and unapologetic. Indonesian actress Luna Maya brought her own brand of composed glamour. Singaporean actor Ayden Sng arrived in a Color Treasures brooch paired with the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Skeleton Chronograph — a combination that managed to feel both precise and effortlessly worn. Vietnamese singer Ho Ngoc Ha completed a lineup that underscored exactly what Bulgari has been building in this region: real cultural relevance, not just a borrowed name on an invitation list.
But the evening’s defining image belonged to Filipino Bulgari ambassador Pia Wurtzbach Jauncey , who closed the evening’s jewellery presentation wearing the Le Magnifiche Chronos and Chroma necklace — a singular piece centred on a 26.02-carat royal blue Sri Lankan sapphire, crafted from more than 200 individual elements. It is the kind of necklace that renders a room briefly, usefully, silent. She had worn it early in 2026 at the Eclettica launch in Milan alongside fellow Bulgari ambassadors Anne Hathaway and Dua Lipa, which contextualises just how significant her presence was here in Singapore. This was not a regional afterthought. This was the centre of something special.
Eclettica: When a Jewellery Collection Becomes an Argument
Eclettica — the Italian adjective for “eclectic” — is a word Bulgari has arguably earned the right to use more than anyone. The collection, unveiled in Milan in March 2026, draws from three artistic disciplines: painting, sculpture, and architecture. It comprises over 160 creations, of which 50 carry multi-million dollar valuations, and nine are classified as Capolavori — singular masterpieces through which the collection’s most ambitious thinking is expressed.
The philosophy behind it comes from Jewellery Creative Director Lucia Silvestri, who has long treated rare stones not as materials to be set, but as characters with stories that jewellery exists to tell. Under her direction, Eclettica reaches for wearable art in the most literal sense — not as marketing language, but as a genuine design position.
The Seres Scarf necklace, one of the nine Capolavori, makes the case in extraordinary terms: 1,180 individual components that move and drape like fabric, anchored by a 31.90-carat sugarloaf sapphire from Sri Lanka. The piece can transform between multiple configurations — sautoir, choker, layered — which speaks to Bulgari’s broader Eclettica thesis: that the most valuable jewellery is not fixed, but alive.
What Bulgari Understands That Others Don’t
There is something worth pausing on here: the consistent intelligence with which Bulgari chooses its Asian moments. This is not a house that arrives in the region with a stripped-down version of its European programme. The trunk show in Singapore from the 19th to 23rd of June ’26, hosted at 7 Adam Park, presented the full breadth of the Eclettica collection — high jewellery alongside high-end watches, including three extraordinary Eclettica timepieces built on Bulgari’s Piccolissimo movements: the Notte Stellata Divas’ Dream (a night-sky dial beneath domed crystal and a constellation of stones), the sculptural Pavone bracelet watch, and the Serpenti Dea Secret.
The house has been staging trunk shows in Singapore for years, and each iteration feels more assured than the last. What remains constant is the respect embedded in the gesture — the implicit acknowledgement that Singapore’s clientele require, and deserve, the same access to the maison’s finest work as those in Paris, Milan, or New York.
That is a position, not just a scheduling decision.
